Since its founding by Mormon pioneers in 1862, Rockville has worked to maintain the vision of its forefathers. Annual events, volunteer projects, and neighbors helping neighbors bring residents together to strengthen the sense of community.
As you pass through on your way to or from Zion National Park, slow down and enjoy the peaceful beauty of this small town – its towering trees and open fields, its historic bridge, buildings, and stone irrigation ditches. Historians have referred to Rockville as “the last treasure in Utah”. Its residents would agree!

Set in the midst of world-famous Zion National Park, the remains of the once-bustling Grafton now stand as a ghost town in honor of the hard work that so characterized the early settlers. Grafton’s overwhelming beauty was not lost on Hollywood scenes in at least three movies, including Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, starring Robert Redford and Paul Newman, were filmed at the site in 1969.

Constructed in 1924 and spanning the Virgin River in the Town of Rockville, Utah, this single-lane bridge is the only surviving Parker Through Truss type bridge used for vehicular travel in the State of Utah. The U.S. Bureau of Public Roads designed the Rockville Bridge for the National Park Service. C.F. Dinsmore, an Ogden bridge contractor, erected the bridge on site from prefabricated steel components manufactured by the Minneapolis Steel & Machinery Company. The structural and historical integrity of the bridge have been exceptionally well preserved and on August 4, 1995, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
